The next major attraction to open at Walt Disney World won't be for the kids this time but for the dogs. Best Friends Pet Resort, scheduled to open Aug. 27, will offer not just boarding but also bedtime stories and a water park for dogs.
The luxury facility can accommodate way more than 101 dalmations. It will have 50,000 sq.ft. half outdoors. There will be room for 270 dogs, 30 Cats and various other animals including birds, hamsters and guinea pigs.
Standard boarding fees for a dog will be $37/night. For additional fees you can get services like vacation villas with outdoor patios and flat-screen TVs for watching videos like 'Homeward Bound'. These cost $57/night and if you really want you can upgrade to a 226 sq.ft. suite ($76) with private yard and personal pet concierge.
Cats can choose between 2 and 4 storey condos.
Best Friends also offers play groups, outdoor runs, walking trails and areas for balls/frisbee. Pets can be left for the day without overnight boarding, and owners can drop by to visit whenever they want. The Best Friends resort replaces 5 existing conventional kennels at Disney World.
